Geordan Murphy ended his 16th season with Leicester Tigers in 2012/13 by celebrating his eighth Premiership league title win before joining the staff as assistant backs coach.

Geordan arrived in Leicester as a teenager after just one senior season at hometown club Naas behind him.

After making his debut against Rotherham in 1997 Geordan went on to make 322 appearances, scoring 93 tries and 691 points for his club.He played his last game in May 2013 in the Premiership win over London Irish.

He also reached the top of the international game with 72 Tests for Ireland and 7 appearances (including Tests against Argentina and New Zealand) with the Lions.
