Nigel Quashie can best be escribed as an intelligent, battling midfielder who was an excellent passer of the ball,

Nigel Quashie retired from playing professionally in 2015 after a spell playing and coaching in Iceland with IR of Reykjavik and BI Bolungarvik.

A former club captain at Portsmouth and a member of the side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2003, Quashie angered many of their fans when he controversially joined fierce rivals Southampton in 2005.

Unfortunately his time at the Saints was largely a disappointment and he was unable to prevent his side getting relegated from the Premier League five months after his move – much to the delight of the Pompey fans.

Nigel also enjoyed spells with Queens Park Rangers, Nottingham Forest, West Browmwich Albion and West Ham United.

Internationally, Quashie represented Scotland (through his Scottish grandfather) despite representing England at under 21 and B level going onto win 14 caps scoring one goal.

During his time at IR Reykavik, Quashie was briefly put in charge of team affairs when the club’s head coach was sacked in 2012.

Quashie has now returned to the UK from Iceland and set up his own coaching school IPDA (Improving Player’s Development Academy) based in the Midlands which is aimed at 7-16 year-olds.
