Bernie Slaven was a professional footballer who played the majority of his football in the North East of England with Middlesbrough.

He joined Middlesbrough in 1984/85 season from the Scottish team Albion Rovers where he had finished top goal scorer with 31 for the season.

As a player he was fortunate enough to play 380 games for Middlesbrough.

He also had spells with Port Vale, Darlington and was capped by his country The Republic Of Ireland 7 times.

Bernie can now be heard on local Star Radio and he also gets involved with some match day hospitality at "The Borough".

Bernie is also carving out a name for himself on the After Dinner Speaker circuit.
