Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards Former Olympic Ski Jumper and Motivational SpeakerMichael Edwards or Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards as he likes to be known shot to fame during the winter Olympics of Calgary in 1988.
Eddie did have a few problems and one was that he is very farsighted, requiring him to wear his glasses at all times, even though when skiing they fogged to such an extent that he could not see.
Although Eddie finished last in the 70m and 90m events, he became famous and won over the British public as an example of a plucky underdog or 'heroic failure'.
Since his retirement from the sport Eddie has been kept busy appearing on television programs and giving After Dinner and Motivational talks.
Eddie did win the celebrity TV diving show Splash in 2013
Eddie also tried to make a comeback at the age of 50 in January 2014 however red tape did not allow this to happen.
