Martin Bayfield

Former England Rugby Player, Entertaining After Dinner Speaker and Awards Host

Martin Bayfield is one of the most popular, funny and talented sports speakers on the After Dinner circuit.

At 6ft10", the former British Lion and regular international is sure to stand out at your event. However it is not only his size which sets Martin apart.

Since retiring, his height has helped win him the part of Robbie Coltrane's body double as the giant Hagrid in the Harry Potter films.

On the field Martin enjoyed a successful international career, winning 31 England caps and two Grand Slams. He played in the World Cup in South Africa and was selected to represent the British Lions in New Zealand.

But his career was cut short when he suffered a neck injury in February 1998, landing awkwardly during a Northampton Saints training session

He is now an established member of the BBC commentary team, as well as host of Channel Five's NFL coverage and The World's Strongest Man.

As one of the country's most popular after dinner sports speakers Martin entertains audiences with tales of his time as a rugby international as well as his previous career in the police force.
